Three Brothers and a Sister!
Edward, Carol and Leo McDermott all served during World War II As of February 27, 2009, all "three are now serving in GOD's Army and fighting against the forces of "good vs. evil"!
My Dad, Edward and his two brothers, Carl and Leo fought in World War II. Edward and Carl both served in the US Navy, while Leo served in the Marine Corp.These brothers were very close. Their decision to stand up for their country was heavily incluenced by their father, Thomas McDermott.
Patsy, their younger sister was close to them as well. And being the only girl, outside of her mother, she was treated very well by all.
Edward and Carl were stationed in the US, while Leo fought at Guadalcanal in August of 1942. Leo was the only one who saw "live" action - and barely came back alive to tell it. He was the ONLY survivor in his company. His commander died the first day they were there. He received schrapnel wounds through out his body. And emotionally, it took him along to recover from what happened to him there. But with the love of his family, Leo came home, met a lovely girl, married, had a family and led an ordinary life. Edward and Carl did the same. In fact, both these brothers got into the field of education. Carl,unfortunately died right at the start of his retirement, at age 62. He suffered from Lou Gehrig's disease. Leo died on May 22, 1999, 10 years ago, today. And Edward passed away on February 27, 2009. As stated in the beginning, these "guys" are fighting a different kind of war, but one that will be the ultimate victory for all. YOU SEE, "JESUS" IS THEIR COMMANDING OFFICER!!!
